Cupra TCR

2024 saw Jabbasport entrusted with the running of the Piranha Motorsport / Sim Dynamics Cupra TCR of Chirs Bialan and Simon Mason, where we would be running the cars in both the British Endurance championship, and the Britcar Trophy Championship.

The whole project has been made possible by Chris Bialan of Piranha Motorsport but it was Simon Mason of Sim Dynamics who put the trust into Jabbasport to put Chris's dreams to the circuit.

The car in question is a purpose built race car built by Cupra Racing, a branch of Volkswagen Group Motorsport to the tightly controlled TCR regulations.

It features a 2.0l TSI engine producing 350bhp (identical to whats fitted to the Road car equivalent and the Golf R/ Audi S3)

Whilst the Engine is as fitted to the road car equivalent, all of the modifications are based around making the car go round a circuit as fast as possible (whilst staying within the TCR regulations of course) so it features a set of massive 370mm disks and AP Racing 6 pot calipers all being operated through a motorsport modified ABS system by a Tilton Peal box.

The Gearbox is a 6 speed Sequential made by Sadev

The suspension is heavily modified, the very best Ohlins TTX dampers put the power to the ground through massive 10x18" wheels, and a front wishbone/ hub combo that wouldn't look out of place on a mantelpiece, is the real backbone to this cars lap times.

Inside is minimalised down to whats needed, featuring a T45 Multipoint rollcage tied into all the important bits, a 100l quick filled FIA fuel cell, Motordrive race seat, fire suppression system and Aim motorsport dash display.

The outside is the real standout to the cars visual looks, with a fully functional carbon fiber bodykit, and a TCR regulation Carbon fiber front splitter and rear wing.

Sim Dynamics is lead by Simon Mason, one of UK motorsports most experienced driver coaches having spent over 35 years exclusively within motorsport and the automotive industry.  Simon was one of the first full time racing driver coaches back in the 1990's largely led by detailed  observation and analysis skills and working with some of the best drivers and teams in the sport at the time.

An ARDS Grade A,  Aston Martin and Ferrari performance driving consultant, Simon is driven by the details of our sport and considers having the career he has, a priviledge not a right.  Passing on that knowledge to people with the same passion is a great honour.

Simon has multiple championship titles and numerious race wins particularly in endurance races, including 6 x 24 hr race successes. This is largely down to knowing how to work with the car, track, people, budget and conditions more than outright speed.
